Hybrid Wiener model: An on-board approach using post-flight data for gas turbine aero-engines modelling

چکیده

On-board modelling of gas turbine aero-engines over the life cycle is a promising solution for engine performance improvement and future aero-propulsion requirements. In this paper, an on-board approach named Hybrid Wiener model (HWM) proposed using post-flight monitoring data, which aims at estimating unmeasured safety-critical control parameters (i.e. thrust, surge margin, entry temperature) by degradation effects. Common models nominal engines, i.e. piecewise linear model, novel generalized describing function, are systematically tested on validated turbofan aero-thermal model. Simulations demonstrate that best candidate engines. HWM therefore constructed with integration on-line off-line adaptation approach. The part computes in real-time manner. Meanwhile, serves to periodically update nonlinear static blocks data order match particular degraded engine. Idle full-power rapid transient simulations carried publicly available data. Results from studied different flight cycles not only able guarantee steady accuracy temperature, but also ensures maximum errors these less than 4.66% during acceleration states. Moreover, percent peak values margin temperature between within 0.50%. confirmed.

Distributed Control Systems for Aero Gas Turbine Engines: A wicked problem for systems engineering?

Present day jet engines are controlled and monitored by a series of hydraulic, fueldraulic, electrical and pneumatic sub-systems known as the Full Authority Digital Engine Controller (FADEC). At the heart of the FADEC lies a centralised Electronic Engine Controller (EEC) responsible for control and safety of the wider engine system. It has long been postulated that a distributed EEC would contr...
